Summer Issue Submission Call: Road Kill

DrivingThe sun is up, the sky is blue, the temperature is rising…but are we all going on a summer holiday?

Well, no – we’d rather go on the road trip from Hell…or even the road trip to Hell (at least it should be hot there!).

For Issue 3 of Massacre Magazine the theme is …

Road Kill

Road Trip We are looking for journeys into terror – the weary traveller who finds himself on the road to nowhere, the wrong turn in a strange city, the Good Samaritan who regrets offering a lift…

The road and the kill are entirely up to you!

Road to NowhereThe deadline for ‘road kill’ themed fiction and dark verse is:  April 30th, 2014 (midnight, GMT).

Word count for fiction: 500 – 10,000.

Coming Soon – Massacre Magazine Issue 2

Massacre Issue 2 CoverFrom the spring issue of Massacre Magazine spew thirteen dark and disturbing works of fiction.

Emerging from the shadows come two new Fearsome Flashers: Amdi Silvestri’s winning entry, Imprint, gives a possible glimpse of the future, and Dan Weatherer will forever change the way you look at your shadow with One and Free.

Our resurrection theme has raised The Gorgon’s Kiss from Stephanie Ellis and My Search For Perfection from Paul Holbrook. Anthony Crowley treats us to a new take on a classic theme with his poem Constructing Death.

In this issue’s author interview, Steve Emmett talks to Gary McMahon – author of The Concrete Grove trilogy, The Bones of You and many other novels and short stories.

To read these and eight other dark delights look out for Massacre Magazine, Issue 2, March 1st!

Happy New Year From The Massacre Team!

Happy New Year 2

Happy New Year to all horror readers and writers (and everyone else who may be reading!)

And a big THANK YOU to our contributors and all those who have helped spread the word about Massacre Magazine. We’re looking forward to bringing a new year of new horror!

Arise! Spring Edition Submission Call

Sunrise MassThe light! It burns!

The dark days may linger but spring advances. The light will soon be upon us and we must be prepared. The time has come to seek themed stories for Edition 2 of Massacre Magazine. And what is it that we seek?

Resurrection

What can you dig up to make out bones tremble and our flesh creep?

Handy - Spring

Let your mind wander to dark places and dark times – past, present…future. What we really want to see is imagination at work rather than the obvious.

If you have a new twist on an old theme or ancient myth, send it in, however… just one word of caution. Zombie stories are acceptable BUT they will have to be exceptional to be successful.

So, whether you’re breathing new life into the undead, or rising from the ashes, send us your submissions!
